"Senator, in everything I said about Iraq, I turned out to be right and you turned out to be wrong and 100,000 people paid with their lives; 1600 of them American soldiers sent to their deaths on a pack of lies; 15,000 of them wounded, many of them disabled forever on a pack of lies."

-- British MP George Galloway to US Senators 5-17-05.

Flag Burning
If there was ever a solution in search of a problem, an arrest in search of a crime, it's this one.

It is a freedom of expression issue, nothing more. There was a grand total of ONE flag burned last year. This is NOT the burning issue facing most Americans, but mark my words, the Repugnican thugs are going to try to make it one for the 2006 elections. They will trot out flag burning amendments in every state where they think they can get away with it, and tar every Democrat in sight with the "traitor" brush if they don't toe the line.

Bullshit! All this will do is to create a problem where none existed. Human nature being what it is, a large number of flags will get burnt as a protest to this stupid proposal, which in turn will churn up the emotions on both sides, and meanwhile the Bush Family Evil Empire is doing its level best to exchange blood for oil. Our brothers and sisters are leaking their life fluid into the arid sands of Iraq while Halliburton, the Carlyle Group, etc., are busy removing the black gold from under it.

Give me a break. Don't fall for this cynical ploy, people. They don't give a shit about the flag or the country it represents. All they care about is their bottom line profits. Fuck 'em -- we don't have to help them along.

Here are some important links. Study up on the issue and make up your own mind about it.

Dueling Quotes from the Flip-Flopper-in-Chief
"I think it's also important for the president to lay out a timetable as to how long they will be involved and when they will be withdrawn."
-- The Smirking Chimp on June 3, 1999, criticizing Clinton for not setting a timetable in Kosovo.

"It doesn't make any sense to have a timetable. If you give a timetable, you are conceding too much to the enemy."
-- The Smirking Chimp on June 24, 2005.

Did you see this flip-flop reported in the SCLM*? No, and chances are you won't, either.

Thanks to my good friend Bartcop for this one.
